It’s general human tendency to avoid, postpone or give up a task or a routine or a habit by citing time constraint. The mind looks for ways to do everything but hard to face job on hand. Exercise is one of those things that people always find ways to shirk and shun.
However, the results of a new research put an end to those lame excuses, and highlight the fact that there in fact is plenty of time in the day, and there is therefore no excuse of avoiding workout.
To be healthy, you need just 150 minutes of brisk exercise in one week, which effectively works out to 30 minutes per day from Monday to Friday. The study revealed that people prefer to watch TV or scrutinise their mobiles – as demonstrated by a poll of 32,000 Americans who were asked to record their activities as well as those of their family over a 24-hour period.
In USA, there is a general perception amongst the citizens, including health professionals, that a lack of leisure time is a major reason for people not getting enough physical activity. But the research came up with contradictory findings.
When calculating free time, errands such as food shopping, cleaning, cooking, eating and playing with children were excluded. It was then inferred that everyone had at least 4.5 hours of spare time every day, and men, especially, had more half-an-hour of free time compared to women.
