The new virus is behind mysterious pneumonia-like illness to have struck Wuhan.

The illness had caused unprecedented panic and baffled doctors and health experts throughout China. However, researchers claim to have identified the virus that has gripped 59 people in Wuhan province and had the entire region on tenterhooks.

The researchers say there is no direct evidence that the new virus, called the coronavirus, is spread by humans. It is also not clear whether it causes death of the patient or not. But the health officials globally are monitoring the health situation in Wuhan very closes as its is the same region from where the SARS epidemic had spread across world back in 2003.

SARS was a dangerous respiratory disease, which had infected more than 3000 people killing 774 across the world.

Scientists say that Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that infect animals and people. Symptoms of this dreaded disease include high fever, difficulty in breathing, and lung lesions.
