Music has seven notes, but its meaning is very deep. Music can calm your mind and heal your pain. It can connect with your feelings directly to the core. The most important use of this art form is also in alternative medicine, which is known as 'music therapy' or 'music therapy'. Music therapy can calm the mind and most of all, it can prove to be helpful in managing diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. In addition, it is helpful in reducing the symptoms of depression, stress, and psychological disorders like schizophrenia.

Health effects of music therapy

Music therapy can affect your attention, emotion, behavior, perception, and communication, providing relaxation and pleasure to your body and mind. It also affects the structure of your brain. Not only this, but music therapy can also be useful for treating disorders related to your nervous system.

Music therapy methods

#1. Singalong music therapy

This is a popular music therapy session. This is done to help relieve your pain, dilate blood vessels, reduce stress hormone levels, and boost antibodies. In addition, it helps to improve your mood. In this you sing together informally, this can be done with a songbook provided by a music session expert or with a plain copy of popular songs in it. In which the participants can sing their favorite songs from the copy.

#2. Blackout song writing

In the process, the therapist gives participants some lyrics from 4-5 different songs, which represent recovery in songs. Now, the participant is asked to choose words from those songs to form their own song.

This is a great way for the patient to express their feelings in an error-free manner. Longer songs are recommended because it allows for more possible choices, although shorter songs are recommended because the patient is limited by their ability to handle such tasks.

#3. Musical Hangmen

Here a therapist draws a thematic picture on the board and asks the patient to guess the word within the time limit. The time limit is set in such a way as to, for example, finish the task until all the leaves have fallen from the tree. Now, choose a thematic word, like- 'happy', and then find a song that starts with each letter of that word. The patient has to listen carefully to the song to target the word.

All these music therapy methods help the patient to improve mental health and all are helpful in reducing or eliminating the symptoms of mental diseases.
