Why does diabetes occur during pregnancy?

Diabetes in pregnancy is not a disease, because about 9 percent of 10 pregnant women have sugar problems due to hormonal changes. This problem is also called Gestational Diabetes. It is not a disease, but it causes many problems in pregnancy.

Pregnancy diabetes

During pregnancy, insulin is made in our body in a gland called the pancreas, but during this time many changes take place in the body due to which the pregnant woman's body becomes less sensitive to insulin, and this happens because of which there is a change in the blood. The present sugar can be available to the child. But sometimes this balance gets disturbed and excess sugar is formed in the body, which leads to diabetes.

A sudden increase in weight also becomes the cause of diabetes. Women who are overweight before conception have an increased risk of developing diabetes. Because insulin is directly related to the womb.

During pregnancy, women feel like eating a variety of things, due to which insulin increases more than necessary, besides insulin converts food and glucose into energy in the body. Due to this many changes take place in the body and the sugar level increases.

Effect of diabetes on pregnancy

Although it is normal to have diabetes in pregnancy, if gestational diabetes is not treated in time, then its effect can harm the newborn.

A woman who becomes a victim of diabetes during pregnancy, after birth, her child always has low blood sugar and mineral deficiency.

Women who get diabetes during pregnancy can have their delivery before 9 months, apart from this there is also a risk of jaundice in the baby.

Children of women suffering from diabetes are always at risk of obesity and diabetes. Apart from this, the child may also have trouble related to breathing.

Macrosomia can occur in babies due to the mother having diabetes during childbirth. And at the time of birth of these children, the shoulders get hurt. Apart from this, at the time of birth, the blood glucose level in children drops very much and they also have trouble breathing.

Low levels of magnesium and calcium occur in the baby. Due to this, the newborn may have problems like twitches, cramps, tremors.

Diabetes during pregnancy can harm the baby more than the mother.
