▴ MoHAP organizes the 2nd Emirates Pediatric Intensive Care Conference at Sharjah
The 2nd Emirates Pediatric Intensive Care Conference (EPICC) kicked off at the Ministry of Health and Prevention’s Training & Development Center in Sharjah.

The two-day event was organized by MoHAP and comes as part of its activities in the “UAE Innovation Month - February 2020”.

Under the theme “Innovation in the management of children in the intensive care unit”, the EPICC is featuring interactive lectures and presentations, in addition to reviewing developments of evidence-based medical practices, educational innovation, practical application, discussing latest innovations, trends, practical challenges and solutions adopted in the field of pediatric intensive care.

A Sustainable Platform for Innovation :

In his keynote address, HE Dr. Youssif Al Serkal said: “The UAE Innovation Month 2020 is constituting a sustainable national platform for innovation in the UAE, in accordance with the objectives of the National Innovation Strategy which aims to encourage and reinforce innovation in the UAE to be one of the world’s most innovative countries. The 2nd EPICC is the first of its kind event nationwide and it comes as part of MoHAP’s efforts to enhance innovation in pediatric critical care. Keep pace with the global therapeutic developments, and reduce mortalities among children with cardiovascular disease, as per the indicators of the National Agenda 2021.”

“The conference This conference is an important platform that brings together, under one roof, experts, senior academics, researchers, and doctors to share their expertise and review the latest developments in all aspects of pediatric intensive care. It also provides a multidisciplinary platform for policymakers and senior managers to showcase and discuss the latest innovations, trends, challenges, and approved solutions in the field of pediatric intensive care,” he concluded.

Augmenting Health Services for Children

Dr. Kalthoum Al Baloushi said: “The 2nd EPICC aims to discuss developments and recent research of focused healthcare for children, as well as to highlight preventive and curative measures developed globally, in order to enhance health services provided to children in accordance with the latest international standards.”

Al Baloushi added: “The conference is an important platform for doctors, nurses and health professionals, to exchange experiences and discuss the latest developments and global research. It also represents a unique experience for Emirati doctors and nurses, to leverage the researches that are presented in the conference and workshops and lectures to be delivered by global experts, as this would help enhance the career path of pediatricians in the UAE.”
