Disrespected Hollywood big shot Harvey Weinstein has tried positive for the novel coronavirus, US media detailed Sunday.

Harvey Weinstein, 68, is in jail in northern New York state in the wake of being condemned to 23 years in prison for assault and rape.

The fallen film maker's finding was first announced Sunday evening by nearby paper the Niagara Gazette.

Harvey Weinstein's representatives have declined to remark to US media regarding the matter.

The New York State Department of Corrections didn't react when reached by AFP for affirmation of the reports.

Harvey Weinstein was moved Wednesday to a jail close to Buffalo, 350 miles (560 kilometers) northwest of New York City.

Preceding his exchange, he remained at Rikers Island jail and a Manhattan emergency clinic, where he was treated for chest torments.

Swarmed US detainment facilities can become hotbeds for coronavirus diseases. A week ago, monitors at Rikers and New York's Sing jail tried positive for the infection, nearby media revealed.

As of Sunday, the infection has killed 417 individuals in the US out of over 33,000 cases, as per a tracker oversaw by Johns Hopkins University.

Harvey Weinstein was indicted in February for a criminal sexual act in the principal degree and assault in an exhaustive cross-examination while being found not guilty.

He was sentenced for assaulting ex-entertainer Jessica Mann in 2013 and of persuasively performing oral sex on previous creation aide Mimi Haleyi in 2006.

Almost 90 ladies, including Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek, have leveled sexual unfortunate behavior charges against Harvey Weinstein, the Oscar-winning maker of "Shakespeare in Love" and various other basic and film industry hits.
